If your glass is half empty, life is a rollercoaster. If your glass is half full, life is a rollercoaster. If you work in ministry, life is a rollercoaster. We experience some small moments of victory that create victory banners for the church and in a person's life. Of course, we want the fireworks to make a spectacular show. We gravitate towards what looks good in a big way. The Word has something to say about this. I will first mention Zechariah 4:10a. Out of the New Living Translation, it reads, "Do not despise these small beginnings, for the Lord rejoices to see the work begin..." The work of the Lord in our lives may explode in a rush then settle down to the normal wear and tear of spiritual life. Hey, we like what adrenaline does for us. It keeps us hopped up and engaged. It keeps us hopefully expectant. What are we when the hype and drama are quieted? Are we only there for the show?
