About Us

The birth of modern-day Lifeboat Community Church began with the salvation of Lucy Hooper in Avon, NC in 1926 followed by a 1931 Salvo prayer meeting and the 1933 shipwreck of the schooner G.A. Kohler just down the water from Salvo. Following the construction of the church house by Lucy and other villagers, Rob Douglas held the first service on October 6, 1935. Soon after, Lucy Hooper held the pastoral position for over 30 years. Though numerous pastors have come and gone, the shipwrecked schooner still stands as a testament to the redemptive beauty of our Lifeboat Community Church.

Meet Our Team

David and Kay Daniels

Lead Pastors

We are grateful to our current and seasoned pastoral team of Pastor David and Sister Kay Daniels, local pillars of the faith and the Assemblies of God network of churches to which we belong. Their dedication to the ministry of Jesus Christ involves church planting, overseas evangelism, and international student ministry, among other avenues. Their reach is both deep and expansive. Together, they have exemplified dynamic teamwork and effectiveness in training up the next generation in ministerial service and Jesus-focused leadership.

Kristen Dalton

Lead Teacher

With understanding that the Triune God and the Bible are both vastly complex, exceeding mere human comprehension, Kristen uniquely uses Scripture to explain and confirm Scripture. This opens up the first few layers of the Word of God for a deeper understanding of the life of the Jesus disciple. Though some of the concepts are deep and multi-layered, Kristen aims to present the content in both a spiritually and cognitively digestible manner.

Kathy Pettit

Secretary/Treasurer

Above and beyond the call of service is one of the ways to define Kathy. She has been faithfully dedicated to ensuring the daily functionality of the church. She keeps the books straight but does so much more for our church family. She thoroughly loves to serve others in the name of the Lord. Kathy is an integral part our team. We are grateful to have her as a strong part of our church family.

Assemblies of God Statement of Faith

  1. The Bible: The Bible is the inspired Word of God.
  2. The Trinity: There is one true God, eternally existing in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
  3. Jesus Christ: Jesus is God’s Son, who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, and is both fully God and fully man.
  4. Salvation: Salvation is received through repentance toward God and faith in the Lord Jesus Christ.
  5. Baptism in the Holy Spirit: The baptism in the Holy Spirit is a separate experience following salvation.
  6. Divine Healing: Healing is provided for in the atonement.
  7. The Second Coming: The second coming of Christ is imminent.
  8. The Church: The church is the body of Christ, the habitation of God through the Spirit.
  9. The Final Judgment: There will be a final judgment for the righteous and the unrighteous.
  10. The New Heaven and New Earth: The eternal state of the righteous will be in heaven, and the unrighteous will be separated from God.
